We're noever going to get those posters and bonus CDs, are we?

Thanks David at Empyrean ... way to treat Eric's loyal fanbase.

Jeff Friday, October 17, 2008 12:45 AM
I wish others affected by this would chime in as well, just so we can know how many folks ordered this.

Again, this is 100% on Empyrean and David really needs to step up and tell us the truth about what's going on.

chris Friday, October 17, 2008 03:26 PM
i orderd like 600 and got them all so mabey thats why yours havn't come yet. sorry!

Lawrence Friday, October 17, 2008 08:54 PM
Chris. What are you actually talking about? Did you actually get The Imagination Stage bonus CD and poster, or are you just one of the spammers that has been inexplicably frequently here recently.

Jeff Monday, October 27, 2008 07:19 AM
Still no update from David.

You do know that the above message and all others of it's ilk are Spam too Eric?

Thomas.

eric matthews Tuesday, September 23, 2008 05:45 PM
Thomas,

of course I do. I am as good at smelling rats as anybody to ever walk this planet. That said, with my day, as HEAVY as it is, when I see a spam like this I just leave it be. It means nothing and misleads nobody into the pit.

CALL ME SOMETIME! I miss hearing your voice.

Sorry to be Mister Broken Record here, but any updates from the horses mouth about when we're getting to be getting our posters and our bonus CDs. It's coming up on seven months now ... given that it seems like no one who ordered the Seinking Ships package ever got their posters, it doesn't bode well.

eric matthews Thursday, September 18, 2008 04:02 AM
Lawrence,

hey, please email me at: ericmatthewsmusic@gmail.com

you did so at my MySpace page but I couldn't respond as you are not my "friend". In trying to correct this I found that you "don't accept friend requests from bands". So, there it is.

Jeff Friday, September 19, 2008 12:18 AM
Just to possibly add some more information, I did finally hear back from David at Empyrean last week and he wrote that the situation regarding the posters was a "mess" and asked if I wanted a refund. I told him I would prefer what I ordered and asked if he had a timeframe for both the posters and the bonus CD. I also implored him that he needs to communicate better with his customers and keep his updated with the status of everything consistently. Unfortunately, though not terribly surprisingly, I haven't heard back yet.

Is there any way to get the bonus disc if you didn't order from the label? I didn't know about it before I went down to my local record shop and bought my copy.

What are the songs on it, anyways?

eric Saturday, June 28, 2008 05:56 PM
Rob,

The bonus disc is only being offered through the label. I will ask to see if it can be ordered separately but I don't know...

The track listing is:
1. Cell 33 Redux
2. Heads And Hearts

Both songs are totally epic.
There is good hope that a collection of my b-sides over the years will be out in coming years and these two songs would definitely be on that. You could wait but it would be a gamble.

thanks,
eric matthews

Lawrence Saturday, June 28, 2008 11:21 PM
Eric. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm generally a big fan of your cast-offs ... that bonus EP that came with pre-orders of "Foundation Sounds" is all class, as is that wonderful cover of "Lonely Sea" off the BBs tribute. And as I recall, the b-sides to "Fanfare" weren't half bad either.

I was wondering if anyone's poster and/or bonus disk has turned up yet? (I am slightly puzzled as to why the bonus disks weren't sent out with the albums. Surely that would have been at least a thousand dollars cheaper for Empryean than posting them separately, several months later.)

Jeff Wednesday, June 25, 2008 12:54 PM
I have also not yet received my poster or bonus disc. A couple of e-mails to David haven't been replied to as well. I guess just wait and hope!

eric Saturday, June 28, 2008 05:59 PM
Again, I don't know what the hold up is. At present, David is on his second honeymoon. Life is a series of sufferings interrupted by the occasional good glass of wine, a cool car, a great football game, and a great record like The Imagination Stage that raises the blood pressure a good 36 points. And that is just in the waiting to get all the songs...

eric Saturday, June 28, 2008 06:00 PM
Preston,

sorry you had to wait so damned long. I just hope that the songs are finding you well. Not that you would be well when playing them, but instead that the songs are themselves "well".
Well well, well done, overcooked but not too much.

My copy arrived today. It sounds like another great album from Eric.
Very glad to have it at last.

eric matthews Wednesday, June 11, 2008 07:44 PM
I was waiting like heck for you guys, those least served, to chime in and say that you have the disc.

And yes, there is every indication that the extras are on the verge of being delivered too.

The important thing is that you have the record proper. I was in a fever when I wrote and recorded this record and I believe strongly that it shows.

I dare anybody to defy the notion that this is not one of the finest records of the last several years... OK BRAVADO is indeed my middle name. Sorry for that. It's late at night and I am loose at the tongue.

The truth comes out.

Well it is a fantastic album Eric, it's true.
"The Imagination Stage" reminds me of "It's Heavy In Here" in that the full beauty of both albums slowly sink in the more & more you play them.
There is also a wonderful surreal quality running through the album and the paintings in the booklet match the mood perfectly.
Eric, compared to your previous albums, the melodies here seem to run more counterpoint to each other in the songs. Is that right?
(possibly my songwriting ignorance is showing here)

eric Saturday, June 28, 2008 06:03 PM
Nigel,

you know more than you might think. Thanks for the kind words and yes, there is a more diverse approach in the way I practice these little melodies. Thanks for noticing.

Wow. My CD finally arrived from Empryean. And, despite all my "issues" with the ordering process over the last three-and-a-half months, I have to say that the album is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Eric - it's easily the best thing you've done so far, and that's really saying something. The tunes are fantastic, and the production sounds amazing. I was listening to "That Kiss of Life" as I was driving to University tonight, as the sun was setting over the clear blue winter sky, and it just sounded breathtakingly wonderful. Eric - sorry for al the bitching about Empryean mailorder over the last few months. I still have no idea why my CD took three and a half months for my CD to arrive, but ... well ... I'm glad to say that it was worth the wait.

ditto the last two guys. One question though. Are your records really just gonna get better and better? From the first one to now they just get better and I don't understand because almost nobody does that. The Beatles and XTC did it, and there are others but man, it's really rare.

I was a huge Cardinal fan so when It's Heavy In Here came out I was thrilled but expected a sophomore slump creatively. That didn't happen. And then you vanished which was confusing. And then it all started up again like nothing had happened in those 10 years. It makes me wonder what your records would be like now had you just kept making records the whole time. that
is the kind of idea that drives me crazy.
I bet it drives you nuts too.

thanks a million,
Thomas H.

Hi Eric,
Have you had a chance to hear the new ABC album, "Traffic"?
I know you're a fan from one of your previous comments.
It's available from Amazon UK & CD WOW at a reasonable price.
I think It's a fantastic album and have been playing it non-stop since it arrived.
It may not be the most innovative album they've recorded, but it's as good as anything they've ever done musically.
David Palmer, the drummer from the Lexicon era is back and his influence seems to have made this album more diverse & rhythm orientated than the previous album,'"Skyscraping", back in 1997.
"Skyscaping" was a great album too & very melodic, but it may have been hampered a bit by the drum programming thoughout.

Hi Eric,

Back in 1997 you gave me two of your CD's and I tucked them away until now, I wanted to thank you for them and complement you on your achievements in your music career. I worked for John's Frame Shop at the time, worked on I believe was your black 64 Ford and 62 Ford if my memory serves me correctly.
Take care, Mark
